Steven M. Balmert :
I am for enforcing the current ordinance that property sizes should be 100 feet by 150 feet.
The city charter is the city’s constitution. It contains the type of government that the city is employing and the rules for governance. With that said, stating the actual minimum lot size in the city charter does not agree with the purpose of the city charter (constitution).
Steven M. Balmert :
Avon would be suited for more professional services and light industrial development. This would still allow the existing agricultural base to be preserved in areas of Avon while allowing the city to expand by providing more property tax and income tax base. Professional services include engineering services, law services, and medical services.
Steven M. Balmert :
All the open ditches in the city need to be cleaned and graded to flow in the proper direction. French Creek must be cleaned. To clean French Creek, the city must work with the Army Corp of Engineers due to Federal Regulations. Plats that are currently or in progress of being developed, must maintain all retention basins that are in the plat. Future plat development must make sure that any ditches and other drainage down stream of the plat are cleared and can handle the extra water.

I support the charter amendment that sets the minimum lot size to 15,000 square feet. It will help to create more open space between homes and help maintain property values of current and future homes.
Bob Butkowski:
I believe that the city needs to hire a full time Economic Business Development Director to work to bring small and large businesses to the commercial land North of I-90. The city needs a more diverse tax base to ease the tax burden on the citizens. You have to look no further than cities like Westlake and Beachwood that have Economic Development teams in place and see how they get companies like American Greetings and Eaton Corporation to move in.
Bob Butkowski:
Flooding in Avon has been a long standing issue that needed to be addressed awhile ago. We need to clean out the ditches that have been overgrown and to relieve the areas where man made barriers have been put in the creeks and streams to prevent the natural flow of water.
