Stephen J. Boracchia:
Enact a NJ state constitutional amendment to overrule Abbott and its successors.
Give the legislature and local governments the final say in decisions regarding real estate development and affordable housing programs. Overrule Mt. Laurel and its progeny through a NJ constitutional amendment.
All judges should be elected after the first appointment.
Stephen J. Boracchia:
Yes.
Stephen J. Boracchia:
Yes. Please see http://www.solutionsfornewjersey.org/?p=929 and scroll down for details. If there is a better idea that lowers property taxes and even removes them as a funding source for the schools, I will support it as long as it does not increase taxes overall.
Stephen J. Boracchia:
No. These decisions need to be made locally. The state and the Supreme Court are the reason for the sprawl (see Mt Laurel where the court said we cannot zone to keep our taxes low and we must provide additional housing in our towns). This has led to a massive increase in building and taxes across the state that we see now.
Stephen J. Boracchia:
Only if it does not raise taxes. Conservation is a reasonable idea as every barrel of oil we save is one less we have to produce. With only a 6 million barrel surplus worldwide per day, it is a good idea to conserve. Renewable energy is in its infancy and cannot reasonably control energy costs.
Stephen J. Boracchia:
By not diverting the money for that purpose elsewhere and use it for its intended purpose, i.e. roads, bridges.
Look at the Port Authority as an example, they are funding buildings and housing developments instead of bridges and roads and then they have the nerve to raise tolls. I am not referring to the trade center. They have been in real estate development a very long time while our crossings crumble. The state is in a similar position.
Stephen J. Boracchia:
See the first two items above in Q1, everything else is a band aid fix with no permanence.

Christopher Cullen:
Jobs should be first on ever candidates agenda.
The environment is a big concern for my campaign.
Stopping the attack on the middle class. Teachers, police, public workers are not the cause of New Jerseys problems.
Christopher Cullen:
New Jerseys schools are in the top three in every subject in the nation. Could they be better , of course, but I think a lot of the proposed changes could take more funds away from our public education.
Christopher Cullen:
I would look at the way other states fund schools. I would look at tax alternatives that would broaden the tax base and take the burden off homeowners.
Christopher Cullen:
I would need more information on this subject to answer this question accurately.
Christopher Cullen:
NO. It was a big mistake for the governor to pull New Jersey out of R.G.G.I. As a candidate for the senate in the 13th district most of our towns border the bay or ocean. There are many jobs that depend on a healthy environment. Rolling back environmental regulations would be detrimental to everyone in the 13th district and everyone in New Jersey.
Christopher Cullen:
A strong infrastructure is vital to a strong New Jersey. The longer we delay repairs and upgrades the more it will cost. The Presidents Jobs Bill would send money to New Jersey. This would not only help strengthen our infrastructure it would also put people back to work.
Christopher Cullen:
Up to 70 percent of property taxes go to fund schools. That's why New Jersey is number one in the nation in property taxes. Other states fund schools in other ways. I would propose broadening the tax base to take the tax burden off homeowners. As Mayor of Hazlet I began a shared service program with the board of education before shared service was popular. Cuts made by our governor, in the name of saving has put an unfair burden on the people who need help the most.
Christopher Cullen:
There wasn't a problem with public discourse until our " Jersey Shore " governor took office. Some people like his bullying tactics. I find his style offensive. I would work with both parties to find sensible solutions to make New Jersey productive again. " My way or the highway " may please some people but it has put a divide in our people that distracts from the real problems.
